OK best to have a thread for this one since we can easily loose track of ideas in the shoutbox.
1. What I would do is firstly, try a reinstall of q3a, if u still have the cd.
2. In your console Type : \r_ignorehwgamma 1
It will then ask u to restart, Dont restart just type in
\vid_restart
The slider for brightness will work now ! Edit your autoexec.cfg file add the command seta r_ignorehwgamma "1" Also, open your q3config.sys and delete all entries, just leave the title, do not modify and save.
3. Try entering each of the servers in turn using the default quake3.exe not the ioquake3.exe and check to see if the problem exists on all servers.
4. In your console try typing \r_gamma 1 also try 2. If that works I would add that to your autoexec.cfg file too.
5. Another command u can try in the console is r_intensity 2. 2 is very high 1 not high enough so u can adjust to 1.5 or whatever u want. If 2 is not high enough try a higher number.
Keep us informed of your progress. Remember u don't need all of these suggestions just try them out see if it helps.
