Thought I had solved this issue but I am back to square 1 with getting Battlefield 3 to load in windows 10. What happens now is it simply hangs at the loading campaign on the battlelog page, no game icon appears on the taskbar like it should do. Game also hangs when trying to join a server, so its not a SP issue.
1. Deleted the trade mark TM logo from battlefield 3 dir in the registry.
2. Deleted all files in the directx folder except for DXSETUP, dsetup32.dll and DSETUP.dll then reinstalled direct from origin, right click install.
3. Tried right click repair, no luck.
4. Swapped graphics card over from my Radeon to Geforce 560 TI, downgraded directx to 11 instead of 12.
5. uninstalled Origin and reinstalled along with BF3.
6. Installed game from disc's as administrator.
7. Changed properties on bf3.exe to run as admin and compatibility mode to win7 and win xp sp 3.
8. Looked at install without Origin but not confident enough to do the Hexidecimal edits.
9. Fresh install of Windows 10 on a different hard drive, no luck there just the same, used a fresh ISO download from microsoft.
10. Copied folder from Origin Games to EA games and edited registry to read from EA instead, that failed too.
11. Battlefield 1942 runs from origin ok in windows 10.
If anybody has any different ideas or has managed to get BF3 working in windows 10 can you let me know how you managed to do it. Not sure if BF4 has this problem with windows 10 but would be interesting if it does.
What I intend doing in future is not upgrading HD operating system. What is best to do is keep your hardrive in tact and use a different one for OS upgrading. At least that way you dont have to worry about your games not working.
Anyway, any help here would be appreciated.
