What I would do is consult the people u got the design software from and tell them you are having problems installing the software on your home pc. Make sure that the operating system that you are using is the right one for the software. What error messages do you get when you try to install it. Could be you have to run the execution file as administrator if you are using windows 7 or above. You might need to run the execution file as windows xp compatible. Right click on the execution file and go to properties. Change compatibility to windows xp sp3. Also you need to make sure the copy that you have is suitable for your pc, either 32bit or 64 bit. Thats why you need to discuss it with the company to make sure you have the right version of the software.
You sound problem should be easy to fix. Firstly make sure you use speakers only not headphones just to try this out.
Make sure your speakers are plugged into a working power source and turned on.
Make sure your speakers are correctly connected to the computer.
On your speakers, find the cable that plugs into your computer. Make sure that the speaker cable is plugged into the speakers and the correct jack on the computer. For example, if the cable is a 1/8 inch cable, there should be a round jack for it on the back of the computer. Make sure you have it plugged into the right colour jock port. If it is a universal serial bus (USB) cable, it will plug into any USB port on your computer.
1. Click on your sound icon in the systems tray and make sure the volume level is set to 100%
2 If its set to 100% then go to control panel-->sound--->device manager and look for the sound card. If it has a yellow or red icon your drivers for the sound card are not installed correctly or need updating.
3. Whilst in device manager make sure you do not have two sound cards active. If a sound card was installed in the machine and its onboard sound was not disabled in the computers bios settings that could be the problem. If you do have two sound cards active you need to boot the computer and press F1 to go into settings. Once in settings find the onboard sound and disable it. Save and exit.
Usual sound problems are corrected by adjusting volume levels or updating device drivers. Updating device drivers can sometimes be done by windows updates. I would do a full computer update using windows update icon in your start menu. Then reboot and check sound through speakers, not headphones. Once you have sound corrected then try it with the headphones.
Let us know how you get on
Just had a thought about your software. When you put the software into dvd or cdrom drive are you waiting for a screen to pop up to give you instructions for install? Some software does not autorun like this. You need to go into file manager and then onto dvd rom and double click the setup icon. The setup icon is your execution file which you might need to change the way I outlined above. Good Luck
