This was mostly written by my bf and he said if anything needs clarification like cvars or anything just post and I can show it to him.
Hello to all admins and anyone else viewing. This thread is to post the most viable options for the server's config, and to post the maps that are most relevant.
Best Mods Given Specs Below: 1.) OSP, 2.) Beryllium 1.30 or 1.32a (Only use berryllium if for some reason using OSP is NOT possible)
*****It is important to note that OSP will ONLY work on versions 1.30 or higher of q3.*****
Reasons to choose OSP: It is a server mod that allows clan arena, freeze, and all other q3modes. Far superior to beryllium as not much work is needed in comparison, in terms of cvar correction/changing. It also has a lot more cvar options in general for optimal tuning, not to mention impressive anti-cheat prospects, as it functions with punkbuster.
Exact cfg settings below are taken from quakelive standard settings. When downloading the OSP mod it should come with a text file with the list of available cvars. If not it can be found within this download: OSP Server Side
CFG:
Basic Settings:
Round Limit: 10
Time Limit: 20
Round Time Limit: 180
Match Management:
Voting: Yes: Shuffle, map, etc
Bots: it is advised to have two bots per team, and then that bot gets kicked once a player takes its place. This allows a few people to still play a game. It allows for a smoother flow and in more ways than one and eliminates handicap matches (ie 3 vs. 1) unless it is desired like how Missy likes to play 2 vs 1.
Player Specs + Physics:
Gravity 800
Friendly Fire: Off
Starting Armor: 100
Starting Health: 200
Spawn Protection: 0
Player Speed: 320
Air Control: Off
Air Accel: 1
Ground Accel: 10
Ground Friction: 6
Railjump: Up to your discretion, however note that railjump will not be as utilized due to the proper railgun reload time (see below). Standard rocket jumping is usually always used instead.
Weapons:
Starting weapons: gauntlet, machinegun, shotgun, grenade launcher, rocket launcher, lightning gun, railgun, plasma.
Starting Ammo: Full
Weapon Spawning/Ammo spawning: No/off just like your current servers.
Weapon Damage: I am including this because standard weapon damages are a little different compared to what they should be to make competition more even.
Lightning Gun Damage: 7 (different from usual 6)
Railgun Damage: 80 (notice the difference from the normal 90 or 100)
Railgun Reload Time: 1500 (again notice the difference)
All other weapons stay the same
Final Notes:
The settings above are obviously just pseudocode and will need to be translated into a cfg. Chances are if a cvar for a certain setting, (ie ground friction) cannot be found it is only logical that the cvar does not exist in q3a and therefore does not need changing. Global Knockback settings will probably not need changing as the mod itself has already accounted for that.
***Cvars not included in general are probably accounted for by the mod itself.***
